Mathematics Sin Fronteras: a (virtual) bilingual math outreach program
Mathematics Sin Fronteras (MSF) is a Pan-American bilingual (English-Spanish) extracurricular weekly virtual math outreach lecture series. The goal of MSF is to introduce undergraduate students from diverse backgrounds across South, Central and North America to mathematics and its applications in an engaging and inclusive way that complements the usual university/college math curriculum. MSF also aims to promote cross-cultural communication by connecting students across the Americas with a passion for math, and provide them with the opportunity to interact with leading researchers in their fields in a bilingual environment. The Spring series, which runs from Mar 10–May 26, 2021 and consists of mini-courses presented by four leading women researchers, has students participating from almost 10 countries. Applicants interested in participating in the latter half of the Spring program (Mini-courses 3 and 4), which will run from April 21 to May 26, are invited to fill in the application form at https://tinyurl.com/MSF21-AP Students from underrepresented and socio-economically disadvantaged groups are particularly encouraged to apply.

Mathematics Sin Fronteras (MSF) consiste en una serie de conferencias (virtuales) semanales panamericanas de matemáticas extracurriculares, bilingües (inglés-castellano), desarrolladas en tres meses. El objetivo de MSF es presentar las matemáticas y sus aplicaciones a lxs estudiantes de grado de diversos lugares, de una manera atractiva e inclusiva que complementa el plan de estudios de matemáticas habitual de la universidad. El objetivo también es conectar a lxs estudiantes de las Américas con y a través de la pasión por las matemáticas y proporcionarles la oportunidad de interactuar con profesorxs investigadorxs líderes en sus campos, en un entorno bilingüe. Estudiantes de diferentes minorías no suficientemente representadas o económicamente desfavorecidxs, son especialmente invitadas a enviar sus solicitudes. La solicitud para el tercer y quarto mini-cursos se puede encontrar en el siguiente. Se aceptarán solicitudes siempre que haya vacantes, pero las que lleguen antes del 18 de abril tendrán máxima consideración. La participación es gratuita, aunque cada estudiante debe contar con un buen acceso a Internet para poder participar activamente en las conferencias de Zoom y debe asistir a las seis conferencias via Zoom.
