Tenure Track Faculty Positions

Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in Applied Mathematics

The Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in applied mathematics. A competitive candidate should have a transformative research program and show excellence in teaching. Applicants from all fields of applied mathematics will be considered, but we give preference to candidates whose research area has a connection to any of the existing research groups at UCLA or candidates that could take a leadership role in our evolving programs in Financial/Actuarial Mathematics or in Data Theory. Candidates must have a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) or expect to complete their Ph.D. by June 2023.

Any convictions will be evaluated to determine if they directly relate to the responsibilities and requirements of the position. Temporary Faculty Positions

Hedrick Assistant Adjunct Professorships

The Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles, invites applications for E.R. Hedrick Assistant Adjunct Professorships. Appointments are for three years. Applicants must possess a Ph.D. in a relevant area and should show evidence of excellence in teaching and research. Preference will be given to applicants whose research connects to faculty interests in the department or who can address specific teaching needs.

The teaching load for Hedrick Assistant Adjunct Professors is typically four courses per year. Apart from the standard Hedrick Assistant Adjunct Professorship line, there are three specializations that address particular research and teaching needs in the department. Applicants hired for one of these specializations must be willing to primarily teach courses in these areas.

Specialization in Computational and Applied Mathematics (CAM): The teaching load for these positions is normally reduced by research funding to two one-quarter courses per year.

Specialization for Program in Computing (PIC): Applicants for this specialization must show strong promise as instructors for courses in computing.

Specialization in Financial Instruction (FAM): Applicants for this specialization must have research-level expertise in a field related to financial or actuarial mathematics, and must be willing to master new content in these areas for instructional purposes, as needed. Relevant fields include probability, statistics, financial, and actuarial mathematics.

RTG Postdoctoral Fellow

The Department of Mathematics at the University of California, Los Angeles, invites applications for Geometry and Topology RTG postdoc positions. Appointments are for three years, and teaching load is three one-quarter courses per year. The salary will be $67,288 per year, and an additional $13,000 will be provided for summer support for the first two summers. There are 2 positions and since they are partially funded by an NSF Research Training Grant (RTG), the applicants must be US citizens or US permanent residents.
