Contact: jlesch@soa.org

About the event: The Actuary of the Future (AOF) Section, Technology Section, and the Actuarial Innovation & Technology (AIT) Strategic Research Group have joined together to announce the second annual Disruptions to the Actuarial Profession Contest. This year, we open the contest up to everyone who is interested in technology and the actuarial profession, especially students in universities who want to engage in this future-shaping discussion. We are contacting you professors in the hopes that you will let your students know about the contest and encourage them to participate. We look forward to showcasing your ideas about how technology will revolutionize the actuarial profession and how actuaries can contribute to this process. We are asking that you submit your ideas via a short essay or video. The winner will be selected based on applicability of the technology identified, originality, practical significance and overall quality. This contest will have up to five prizes awarded. The winning submissions are entitled to a plaque, publication in AOF and Technology Section newsletters, along with recognition on AOF Section, Technology Section and AIT Research Group webpages. All participants will receive a certificate of participation. Essays or videos may be submitted from May 28 through Aug. 3 to aof@soa.org. Winners will be announced by Sept. 15. Please view the official rules for details on how to submit your entry. We hope to hear from you and your students soon. Jane Lesch Section Specialist SOCIETY OF ACTUARIES 475 N.
