Professor Terence Tao Receives 2022 Grand Médaille of the French Academy of Sciences

Professor Terence Tao has been chosen as the 2022 recipient of the Grand Médaille of the French Academy of Sciences.

“It is no exaggeration to call him the ‘Mozart of mathematics’ and he managed to go from being a child prodigy (we see him discussing at 10 years old with Paul Erdös, winning a gold medal at the Math Olympiad in thirteen years old, being appointed permanent professor at the age of 21 at the University of California at Los Angeles etc.) at the stage of a famous mathematician accumulating renowned prizes including the Fields medal,” translated from the French Academy of Sciences website.

He shall receive the Grand Medal on Tuesday, March 21st, 2023 at 2.30 p.m. in the Great Hall of the Institut de France – 23 quai de Conti, Paris 6th. The session is open to a general scientific public. The event program is now available online here.
