SHEP is pleased to announce that it is currently recruiting additional students to apply for its 2022-23 peer health education interns (PHEI) program.

This paid internship offers Bruins a great opportunity to learn and be mentored in campus health education/health promotion programming in a college setting, to build community advocacy and professional development skills, while working together with a terrific team of fellow students.

All UG/Grad students returning for 2022-23 are highly encouraged to apply.  Application linkhttps://bit.ly/PHEI2223; deadline Wed., March 23rd. Additional information can be found on the attached flyer.

During New Student Orientation, incoming students learn how to navigate campus life and university institutions, how to enroll in classes, and UCLA community guidelines. Transfer students receive one day of orientation while direct-entry students receive three.

Responses from this survey will be used to make New Student Orientation more accommodating to transfer-specific needs, and ensure that incoming transfer students are given the same resources and preparation for their time at UCLA as their direct-entry counterparts are given.

All transfer students who have attended orientation are encouraged to complete this survey no matter their grade or year. This survey should take only about 5-10 minutes. Here is the link to the survey: bit.ly/TSROrientationSurvey

My Last Lecture is UCLA’s largest student-nominated award for professors in which they are able to consolidate life lessons and advice into a “last lecture” while focusing on the overall question of “What would you tell your students if you had but one lecture to give – your last lecture on this earth?” And, voting is out now! Students can cast their vote for their favorite professor to give them the honor of presenting their best ideas. This is an amazing opportunity for students to recognize the professors who have had a big impact on their choice of major, their approach to learning, and more!

The form doesn’t close until March 18th and it takes less than a minute to vote! Vote here now: https://alumnischolarsclub.alumni.ucla.edu/mll

Dear Bruin Community,

Did you know that the average college student creates 640 pounds of trash annually? Some of our waste generation is out of our control. However, imagine if, for three weeks, every student, staff, and faculty member at UCLA threw their extra food in the compost instead of the landfill, or if they used reusable grocery bags instead of plastic ones. Reducing and efficiently managing our waste is a key step to reducing our own environmental footprint, and if each of us make some simple changes, together we can make an impact in the waste of the UCLA campus community.

With this vision in mind, UCLA Zero Waste is launching our new Think Outside the Landfill Challenge! We will be announcing weekly events and challenges via our social media and newsletter, with each week focusing on a different theme. PSee below for our scheduled weekly themes and giveaways!

  • Week 7 (2/14-2/18): Food Week – Prizes: BPlate Cookbook, Trader Joe’s Gift Cards, Beeswax Wrap
  • Week 8 (2/21-2/25): Household – Prizes: Bamboo Toilet Paper, RefilleryLA Gift Card
  • Week 9 (2/28-3/4): Fashion – Prizes: Official UCLA Sample Merchandise/Apparel
  • …and more to come in Spring!

If you would like to learn more about how to incorporate low-waste strategies into your own life, show how you live and work sustainably, or earn a chance to win some prizes, please sign up for our challenge via our newsletter! You can also check out our website. We will be sending weekly challenges, information about in-person events,  and all you need to know to participate.
